VW

My cars story---
I spotted my car, a shiny silver VW jetta, about 5 years ago.  parked on the side of the road in a business complex parking lot.  My dream car!! I wanted it so bad! I thought it was too good to be true.  I looked into it. looked it up on kelly blue book, the whole bit; i did it!
Then I test drove it....absolutely my dream car! clean. new. fancy. and Fast! :)
I have Always always wanted a VW jetta and here is one staring me in the face....what do I do?!?!  Well I talked to the bank and a few short days later.....It was MINE! :)  I was so happy!!   But wait now I had two cars....oh crap. haha. I bought my first car; honda accord (a little but older) in cash. in full by myself! I was so proud of myself. I bought it. it was mine. I didn't have a car payment. It ran great! and I fell in love with it.  So now what do I do with two cars?! hmm sell it? or keep it? well I did just buy a sweet car that i'm going to have monthly payments on. the new one is better. etc etc. .....well needless to say I couldn't give it up so easy.  I held on to it for awhile. It sat in the back yard for a while.  Then Mike and I decided to go to China to teach English. and well with that comes 6 months of bills still, so I sold my precious honda for the exact amount I bought it, which was also the exact amount I needed for 6 months to pay for my new car while I was gone.  It worked out perfect. :)
Now here I am four years later still trying to pay off my car as fast as i can.

Well today changed my life.  I accomplished something I didn't think I would ever see the end to and what a great relief it is to feel.   Working hard pays off. Working hard for four years pays off. and working hard and paying extra payments every once in a while pays off.
Today, Feb. 19, 2013, changed my life.....I PAID OFF MY CAR!!!!!!! I'm a free woman! I was NEVER late for a payment and now I can drive my car and feel so good that I don't have to pay any more monthly payments!!! YEAH!!

I am so proud of myself and I can do hard things! :)

ENGAGEMENT

ok, so im like THE worst lier ever. I have told you for almost two months now that my engagement story was coming soon. yep liar. sorry :( I had this cool idea to have Mike write it and he keeps forgetting,....so....I'll just go ahead and do it myself :) not getting mad at Mike or anything, he is just busy planning his part of the wedding, so I told him I would take care of this... :)

It was a cold Dec. day, Dec 22, 2012, to be exact. Mike had told me the night before that he had an idea planned for tomorrow. I said ok sure!  It had been a crazy busy week, with my work and mike's car getting hit etc etc.   He told me that night that he wanted to go on a picnic (remember it's three days before Christmas in windy, cold, east Idaho).  I laughed and said ok. why?  He responded, because I heard it was supposed to snow tomorrow (again laughing in my head, "Since when have you wanted to go on a picnic in the dead of winter in the snow?) he continued with,...and plus I want to do something fun together before I leave."  I said oh ok :) man what a great guy!!! (I thought :)).
It was a Saturday.  He was scrambling all day to get some errands done. he called me at like 11 am and said he might just have to meet me in Rexburg (I had an appointment at 1pm) because he wasn't sure if he would be done in enough time to pick me up and get me to my appt. on time. Well he called me an hour later and said he was done with his errands and said it was quite stressful and frustrating and said he was on his way to pick me up.  wow! I thought.
He came and picked me up.  As we were driving to Rexburg I asked what he packed in our lunch, he laughed and said babe, i didn't pack a lunch I thought we would grab a sandwich on the way out of town. I laughed right back and said OH, ok, right.... (man what was I thinking, silly).  I said oh i thought since you said you wanted to go on a picnic you would have packed something.  HE laughed again saying babe I'm not THAT good. lol :)
We got closer to Rexburg, and he asked if I wanted to know where we were going. I said of course said, NO. I love surprises and I hate it when they ruin surprises. men.... He said well let me just tell you so you know what we are doing so you can pick where we are going to get our food; I was a little reluctant and said oook...."I wanted to take you up Mesa Falls" oh yeah!! how fun babe!! ok!! I was so excited!!!
Well needless to say we had made plans that night to be in Blackfoot by 5:15ish for a live nativity with Jill and her husband. so we kind of needed to hurry.  My appt. too WAAAY longer than it should have and then I made him stop at a friends house to drop something off. poor guy I was ruining his plans.  but he was such a good sport about it all. :)
We finally got our Subway sandwiches and got on the road.  It hadn't snowed a ton, but there was snow on the ground.  We turned off the head to Mesa Falls and the roads got a little worse. nothing too bad.  Mike kept laughing because he said I hope the roads dont get worse because there is a big hill we have to drive up to get to the falls.  I laughed a fake laugh. bad roads make me nervous.  As we kept getting higher in the hills and as the trees got thicker the roads were getting extremely worse.  We went up a hill and I asked is this the hill, he laughed and said nope!  oh geez I thought.  That same question and same answered got repeated several times.  And before we knew it there was a sign that said something like 'no winter maintenance beyond this point'.  We both read the sign then looked back at the road and sure enough that point was the end that the road had been plowed.  We were descending, kind of loosing tire grip and I was expecting to run into the 9 ft. tall snow bank they stopped in the middle of the road. Mike quickly turned into the parking lot and we barely missed the snow bank.  That was a close one we both then laughed!! :)    but then, Dang it! we can't get to Mesa Falls  :(
We ventured back to my house just in time to take a quick sit down break before heading to blackfoot for our live nativity.  We had a fun night with Jill and her husband and daughter at the live nativity.
Mike and I were both set to leave tomorrow afternoon, sunday, to go our separate ways for the holidays, and for him to head to KY for the semester....and because of that we were set to open our gifts for/from each other that night. We came home from the nativity and organized a few things then ventured to my room where all our gifts were under my christmas tree :)  He said he needed to do something first and that I wasn't allowed in for a second. I said oook....He came out and said ok your good.  I walked in and noting was changed or different. At this point I thought he was being silly and crazy. I came in excited because I had bought him THE ONE thing he wanted for Christmas, I was SO excited to see his reaction. :)
I knelt down next to the tree and said ok which one would you like me to open first?? He said umm this one. and pointed to a small white bag.  I said ok! He was on the other side of the room scared to come over, so I stopped and said come over here. he said no just open it, I said no come over here. He replied I can see from here. I said no this is from you you need to come watch me open it :)  He stepped a tad closer and said just open it.....:)  I thought alllllrrriiiiight.....Well I grabbed the bag and set it on the bed and was opening it very slowly. he laughed and said just open it. I knelt down next to the bed and put the bag on the bed then leaned it over to look inside, barely getting a look on the outside but did notice a big J and a large outline of a diamond.  But never thought anything of it because every Christmas since we started dating, July 4, 2009, Mike has given me a necklace. So I was excited to see what kind of necklace it could be....much to my surprise there was a little white box at the bottom, I looked at him and he smiled at me.  I looked back down to open the box and lifted the lid......empty....I smiled and tipped the box over to pretend to dump it out in case it was stuck on the bottom.  haha.  (As I was looking down Mike had turned around and grabbed the real box hidden from on top of my dresser), I looked up and Mike fell to one knee and opened the jewelry box and said Lanae will you marry me?? I immediately covered my mouth and started crying and said oh my gosh babe. oh my gosh. are you serious?! are you serious?! I looked at the ring and said through my tears Its gorgeous! It's beautiful!  I  was speechless and Totally SUrprised!!! I was in shock. I said babe I love you :)  and gave him a big hug.  Mike then said are you going to say yes?!  I laughed and said oh yes! yes! yes!! we both laughed really hard! LOL :)
Then next day was Sunday,  the  Ward Christmas program. mike told me he had planned to stay to watch me sing in the program, but I thought he had only planned to stay because i kept bugging him to and because of the hit and run on his car.  Mike also told me the reason he wanted to take me to Mesa Falls was because that was where we had one of our first dates :) What a thoughtful, romantic guy I found! :)

Sorry it was so long, but that's our engagement story :)

Love you babe!  xoxo
