Happy Mother's Day

2014

Shh..don't tell any one, Mike was actually talking to his mom on the phone wishing her a Happy Mother's Day during this photo ;)

On the eve of Voting day...

A LITTLE LAUGH FOR ALL....

As we drove home from Washington last weekend, we stopped at my parents house and when we pulled up we immediately noticed this sign in the yard...hmm...we thought No Way!!, but then we noticed something........
When my parents showed up a few minutes later they told us the hilarious story; so there really is an Alan Ward running in the primary elections and one of my parents friends saw this sign (and many others around it) and just had to bring one home to my dad and put it in their front lawn.  My dad keeps getting questions. So my parents googled it and for sure there is an Alan D. Ward running in the elections! haha :) My dad's name is Alan J. Ward.  We thought it was so funny! I just HAD to take a picture of mom and dad in front of the sign. But we were the only set of kids who knew this, so my dad wrote all the other kids this email:

I don't want to sway your vote one way or the other.  But don't forget to vote and hopefully for the best candidate   This is person just very good possibility if you have not made up your mind yet. I'm just saying   I know this person personally and seems to be the best on the ballot that I can tell.

Ps. He is a little short on fund raising side so any help would be greatly appreciated.

And Yes Alan Ward won!!!!!! LOL LOL

Car projects...

Mike and I bought a truck a few months back; and we were finally able to get it done and it can now drive!! Mike was like a kid in a candy store!!! He spent many cold nights and long hours trying to get it up to his driving specks, well he did it! But a huge thanks to our brother in law Jake for coming to spend a few cold nights to help Mike.  They love working on car projects together :)
And before we headed to WA we had to replace a seal gasket in Mike's car and I stood outside with Mike holding his spotlight and I even got to help screw in a bolt :) It was so fun!!

I love seeing him so happy!!

Memorial in WA

This last weekend we headed up to Washington to spend time with Mike's family to remember his sweet, wonderful grandma who passed away back in November.  Washington is so pretty and green! :)
I love taking ferry's and seeing the ocean :)

Mike's parents new house view :) so pretty over-looking a lake!

 I love tunnels!
 A gorgeous view
Taking the ferry to the fun and beautiful Vashon Island
I love Seattle! I enjoying seeing the Space Needle every time I visited; so much that I act like it's the first time I've seen it! :)

Barn Yard fun

Wow! I haven't been on here for a looong time.  Life brings you so many things you just don't expect and pretty soon almost a year has gone by!! Mike and I are doing well :) We have been working like slaves to save money to head to Law School next Fall.  He is half way done with his Internship in Idaho Falls and we are hoping it may turn into a job; we are still waiting to hear.  Me, on the other hand, just being another slave and working hard at the Orthodontist Office both in Idaho Falls and Rexburg and trying to bring in the big bucks, haha :)

We don't really have anything new news except we are doing well and working hard.  We love being married and love our cute little apartment, even though we are itching to be big kids and get a house.

We haven't done anything exciting lately.  We just love coming home after a long hard day and eating dinner together and doing the normal every day tasks together.

Last Saturday we got invited to go to a real country barn yard hoe-down by some friends.  It started snowing really bad and we almost didn't go but decided to still go, so we trucked through the snow for 30 min and made it to the barn and eat some good 'ol pot luck dinner and watched people dance.  We realized we don't know how to dance like them, so we just watched and enjoyed the live band.  But we felt weird just watching when every one else was coming and going off the dance floor, so we stepped one and instantly our feet started moving, but maybe not in the right direction.  We kind of stepped on each others feet...every...step  opps.  We had a great attitude about it all and started laughing so hard at ourselves that our feet just got worse, so as soon as that song ended we slowly stepped off the dance floor.  But ten minutes later we found ourselves back on the dance floor (because you can't drive all that way and only dance one song).  We hesitantly stepped back on the dance floor and our 'smooth' moves started all over again, and the out bursts of laughter towards ourselves LOL :)  There was one older couple who were the smoothest dancers and we kept watching them and their feet, but after that second dance they noticed us looking at them and talking about their feet, so they lady grabbed Mike and took him around the dance floor to 'help' his feet move correctly so a guy came over to me and took me around the dance floor one time so I wasn't sitting alone watching him dance.  After that we decided it was time to jet home and escape before we really looked like fools and got our selves in trouble.  haha :)
We laughed all the way home about the way we looked and how we felt about going, but we also came to the conclusion that we need to learn for next months hoe-down and maybe even take dance classes/lessons and most importantly we had fun!!

Mary Kay

Hello everyone

So I have decided to do a little business on the side and am looking for support and clients :)

I am now a Mary Kay (make up) consultant and just got my starter kit and am looking for new clients J  I  need to practice doing make overs, and if you are interested and live close let me know!!  I also invite you to browse and visit my website or just email me at naesmiles@marykay.com and tell me what you would like and I’ll order it for you!
Now’s the time to start looking for Christmas gifts J Since I’m new to this I have not sent in my first order yet, so I need help in finding clients and making my first order at least $200.  Again since I haven’t done my first order I will have to order everything which means it will take a week or so because I don’t have my stock pile yet.  I hope that’s not any inconvenience.
Any help would be great!  I think I'll be sending in my first order by Nov. 9th and it will take about a week after that.
Let me know what you would like and I’ll get it as soon as I can.   If you have any questions just let me know.
Thanks for all your love and support!

Love
Lanae Duke J

Donation of a lifetime

So I know ALL of you are DYING to know what I look like after the big chop of a life time....
And yes I've been holding it in for awhile on purpose haha :)

I have Always wanted to grow my hair out long enough to donate it, and so for the past SEVERAL years that is what I have been doing.  I knew it was probably long enough awhile back but I wanted to keep growing it so my cut wouldn't be super short.  I have also been having a race with my nieces to see who can grow their hair the longest for the past two summers. I would always win but they didn't want me to cut it (and neither did I).
But while showering one day washing my hair, I had it all wadded up on the top of my head scrubbing it clean, then when I let go of it, it was so heavy and long, it jerked me head back, LOL.  It was then that I  decided it was time to cut it.
After that I started looking for a cute hair cut idea to give to my hair stylist.  Mike and I agreed on one that wasn't too short and still cute and simple enough to cut and do every day.  I showed my hair stylist and she loved it! :)
Everyone kept asking when and if I was going to get it cut.  I kept procrastinating.   Everyone also kept telling me; not to cut it, that I was going to regret it and miss it.  Yes that is all true but I never get to see my long hair because it's always up for work, and then it gets too hot in the summer that I always wear it up...so I decided it was time.  AND my hair grows fairly fast, so I'm not too worried.
Melissa-my wonderful hairstylist-kept asking when I was going to cut it, but I kept saying "Oh I don't know..."   Finally one day last week she said "ok I put you in the schedule for Saturday at 1pm"  I hesitated and said "OOOOkaaayyyy".  I was a good girl and showed up to my appointment at the salon..

no tears were shed, but almost. I love my new hair cut!  Thanks Melissa! :)

Some young girl somewhere is going to be very happy, grateful, and thankful for my hair!!  If feels to good to donate my hair to such a wonderful cause! :)

The last time I had short hair?? ....well.... I don't even remember!  Maybe like 9th grade, so about 12 years ago or so....

And so it begins....

BEFORE

Because my hair is so thick she had to put it in four smaller pony tails to cut it.

The First cut! AHHHH

All four pony tails

                      There it is.... :(

Look how long and thick that is!

Any guesses how long it is?!

Well her comb is 8 inches long....

Time to style and dye :)

There you have it....

The back

                                               The Final :)

                                            I Absolutely LOVE IT!!
